Stepson; Just know

The days and the nights are long without you. The longest we’ve been away from you was on the weeks you had to be with your mom. Now, now you’re states away, with a whole different life that I practically know nothing of. I lay here at night and wonder how your day was. Did you have all the fun you could have? We’re you good for your mom? What new things did you learn today? These are all questions I wonder every night. During the days when I zone off while your sister is actually content, I wonder what you’re doing in that very moment. I wish things were different, Bub. I wish we weren’t so far away, and that things didn’t happen the way they did. I hope you don’t ever question our love for you, because we love you more than all the stars in the sky. I can’t wait for the day I get to wake up to you “booping” my nose with yours and giggling. I can’t wait to see you chase your sister around and have you both scream “mom!” At me like, a million times a day. I’ve heard those say, you can’t love a stepchild like your own, and boy is that wrong. I have been in your life since you were 2 months old, and I will forever love you like you were mine. The fact that you are not biologically mine, does not change the love I hold for you. You and your sister are my world and my reason for getting up in the morning. I love you.

First PCS

We are currently stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. This is our FDS and first PCS. My husband and I got married in order for him to join the military. Almost two months after we got married at the courthouse, he left for OSUT training with the United States Army at Fort Benning, Georgia, where he spent 22 weeks completing and graduating his programs to become an Infantrymen Solider with the Army. Once he graduated and took 10 days of leave, he reported to Texas to begin in processing. Close to two months later, he finally got leave to get my Daughter and I to move to Texas. On August 16, 2021, we packed up my car and drove from Fresno California to Killeen Texas. We arrived in Texas to our new temporary home on August 18, 2021. Moving from the only house I have ever known has not been the easiest, but I know in my heart, this is the best decision for our family. We’ve now been in Texas for a little over a week, and things are going well. I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us.
